SACRAMENTS

Baptism

The Sacrament of Baptism begins your child's initiation into the Church of the Body of Christ. It is an outward sign of an inward grace which frees the baptized child from original sin.

If you would like to have your child baptized at Holy Family or St. Joseph Church, please call the parish office at 989–345–0064 to schedule an appointment to meet with Fr. Al for Baptismal preparation.

Confirmation &
First Eucharist

The Sacraments of Confirmation and First Eucharist continue your child's initiation into the Church of the Body of Christ. In the Sacrament of Confirmation, the baptized person is "sealed with the gift of the Holy Spirit" and is strengthened for service to the Body of Christ. The sacrament of the Eucharist brings to completion the Christian process of initiation. In this sacrament we remember what Jesus did for us in his life, death and resurrection.

For more information on having your child receive these Sacraments, please call our Catechist, Sara Andres at 989–312–3934 or for more information click here.

Become a Catholic (OCIA)

The Order of Christian Initiation of Adults (OCIA) is the process of welcoming new Catholics into the church. This can be unbaptized adults, baptized non-Catholic Christians, or baptized Catholics in need of Confirmation. To learn more about becoming a part of the Body of Christ, the Church, please call the parish office at 989–345–0064.

Youth OCIA — For youth wanting to be baptized into the faith, please contact our Catechist, Sara Andres at 989–312–3934 or register for a class online here.

Marriage

The Sacrament of Marriage is a covenant which, different from a contract, always expresses a relationship between persons. The marriage covenant refers to the relationship between husband and wife, a permanent union of persons capable of knowing and loving each other and God.
—From the United States Council of Catholic Bishops

Congratulations on your engagement! If you would like to get married at Holy Family or St. Joseph Church, contact the parish office at 989–345–0064 at least 6 months before the date of the wedding to begin the preparation program.

Anointing of the Sick

The Sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick is a sacrament of healing and support for the frail elderly, a person who is very ill, or a person who is about to undergo major surgery. It is not just for those who are near the end of life. The anointing bestows special graces on the recipient, shows them compassion, and gives hope to them and their family.

If you or a loved one is in need of anointing, please call the parish office at 989–345–0064.
